Best Team Building Activities: Mild & Wild

The Chattanoogan’s fun team-building exercises that fuel a little friendly competition, while also firing up the friendships

Minute to Win It

Inspired by the game show where contestants attempt to complete deceptively simple games made from household items, this relay-style event is a great way to ensure that no one in your group – whether outgoing or reserved – takes themselves too seriously.

White-Water Rafting

Did you know the 1996 Summer Olympics white-water rafting event was held just 65 miles from Chattanooga? Summon your inner Olympian as your group paddles that very same river – the Ocoee River in the Cherokee National Forest – in rapids up to class IV.

Painting with a Twist

We are offering the “Art” of team building by including another engaging activity, “Painting with a Twist.” Your group will interact together in a two-hour workshop designed to develop creativity and strength as the team creates something that many participants view as an impossible task.

This culinary competition inspired by the cooking show lets groups pick their choice of a challenge: to create a dish of their desire from a provided full set of ingredients or a specific entrée (i.e. the best chili, burger, or pizza to name a few). Winners get bragging rights – and the satisfaction of eating their winning creation.

Based in the large and open fourth floor 3D printing lab at the Chattanooga Public Library, this challenge has teams attempt to put together a working bicycle. Bicycles are then donated to a local charity, while winners receive a tchotchke made by the on-site 3D printer.

Event Themes: Prepare to be Inspired

A few of The Chattanoogan’s corporate party ideas that your team will be talking about well into next quarter.

Take Me to the Carnival

Cotton candy, made-to-order funnel cakes, miniature corn dogs, and hot buttered popcorn are just a few of the fan favorites guests enjoy while playing classic carnival games and listening to the musical stylings of local buskers. Whether your attendees bring their children with them (or are simply children at heart), this event is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Taste of Tuscany

Strung bistro lighting and local musicians help bring old-school Italia to life with the likes of an accordion, violin, and cello, while guests are treated to a family-style Italian feast at rustic wooden tables.

Roaring ’20s Party

The resort rents vintage furniture from local Chattanooga vendor Heirloom Vintage Boutique and devises a menu of Prohibition Era–inspired cocktails to create a courtyard-based party of Gatsby proportions.

Casino Night

This themed event is so highly requested that The Chattanoogan doesn’t need to bring in a vendor. The resort actually owns all the décor to create a true Las Vegas setting: huge playing cards as tall as a person, a giant Welcome to Vegas flashing sign, and more.

Movie Night

A standard movie screen is set up in the courtyard of the resort, along with a popcorn machine, other snacks, and cushy seating for night of watching silver-screen stars under the actual stars.

Off-Site Meeting Venues: Landmarks to Live It Up

Meetings become lifetime experiences when hosted in one of Tennessee’s most unique meeting venues.

Coker Tire

An antique car and motorcycle collection provides a wow factor that your attendees will be talking about for years to come. Men and women alike will be awed by private access to this collection – one of the largest in the country – which boasts everything from an antique funeral hearse to a vintage bus (for small groups, the bus can be a fantastic way to arrive to your event in style).

Southside Social

Just two blocks from The Chattanoogan, this ultimate gaming room offers a 10-lane bowling alley, corn hole, skee ball, and giant Jenga. Event packages include custom food preparations and drink menus, so you can dine, drink, and play in this one-of-a-kind venue.

Hunter Museum

Housed in a 1904 Classic Revival mansion once owned by the chairman of the Chattanooga Coca-Cola franchise, this American art–focused museum will impress with its exciting permanent and visiting collections. Views of the Tennessee River and downtown cityscapes are available from both indoor and outdoor meeting space, making this venue a true show-stopper.

Tennessee Aquarium

This beautiful Tennessee River-based aquarium boasts two separate buildings to host evening receptions or dinners. For full dinners, the River Journey building pays homage to the natural wildlife of the region in the Tennessee River Gallery, while progressive receptions in the Ocean Journey building introduce you to penguins, sting rays, and sharks.

Main Terrain Park

Just across from The Chattanoogan’s main entrance sits this city-owned wellness park containing fitness obstacles based on the iconic landscape and buildings of the Chattanooga riverfront. A cost-effective venue option, it offers ample space for family-style picnic events and upscale receptions in the evening.

Themed Dinners: Cuisine with Concepts

The best banquet menus and creative menu items that are deliciously destination-focused.

A Taste of Tennessee Menu

This hors d’oeuvres reception will take you through a sampling of dishes rooted to four of the best Tennessee cities: Chattanooga, Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. For Chattanooga, expect cocktails made from local Chattanooga Whiskey; for Memphis, it’s all about paying tribute to the The King himself with PBBB (peanut butter, banana, and bacon) sandwiches.

Food Truck Service

The mountains and the Tennessee River sure are beautiful, but Chattanooga’s food trucks are what will really take your breath away, from Bayou Bites (Cajun) to Hillbilly Philly (philly cheesesteaks). With relationships with several of these roving restaurants, The Chattanoogan can bring whatever food truck (or trucks) your group prefers to you.

Dine-Around Service

Chattanooga has no shortage of great restaurants. For that reason, The Chattanoogan has partnered with five locally owned restaurants to bring in the meals that best suit your group’s fancy, from pub food to Italian to fine dining.

Time to Make the Donuts

As your meeting concludes, pastry chefs set up a station outside your meeting space for made-to-order donuts right in front of your group. Attendees can then dress up their pastries with chocolate or strawberry icing, powder, and all kinds of sprinkles and toppings.

Meeting Technology & Amenities: Simple to Smart

Offerings – from high-tech highlights to just plain ingenious add-ons – that make holding a meeting at The Chattanoogan unlike anything else.

Fastest Internet in the Country

Thanks to EPB (Electric Power Board), Chattanooga has some of the fastest internet in the country, earning it the latest nickname “Gig City.” So bring all the wireless devices you can handle. The ultra-high-speed fiber-optic connection transfers data at one gigabit per second – that’s 50 times the average speed for cities in the rest of the country.

The Spa at The Chattanoogan

Downtime is delightful. One of the best ways to spend your breaks during a program is at the spa, where professional aestheticians and massage therapist utilize custom scents from the artisans at Chattanooga’s own Good Fortune Soaps. An outdoor terrace and indoor pool deck provide fantastic views of Lookout Mountain after your treatment.

The Chattanoogan Conference Center

This 25,000-square-foot space offers a 16-seat executive boardroom, five general session rooms, 12 breakout rooms, an 85-seat amphitheater, and a 7,752-square-foot ballroom. Not to mention, in each meeting space, you’ll find a size-appropriate built-in screen and walls that are covered in a tackable surface, which also provides a sound barrier between adjacent meeting spaces.
