CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 9, 2012) -- The Chattanoogan, Chattanooga’s only AAA Four Diamond-rated full-service hotel, has hired seasoned hospitality industry veteran Gwendolyn (Winn) DeLugas as the hotel’s new event and wedding specialist. She is responsible for coordinating and managing weddings and social events at the upscale hotel.
The events and hospitality industry professional has worked for almost two decades in high-profile positions for some of the top hotels in the country, including Intercontinental Hotels, Hyatt Hotels and The Peabody Orlando. Immediately before joining The Chattanoogan, DeLugas was the director of sales at Winston Flowers in Boston where she was responsible for creating and managing a newly created events department. Prior to that position, she was the corporate director of sales and business development at Longwood Events in Boston. Her responsibilities there included developing and initiating sales initiatives and managing the sales team for the company’s three private venues.
DeLugas spent nine years as the director of catering/conference management services for The Peabody Orlando and managed revenues in excess of $12 million per year. Under her direction, the hotel received most of the major industry awards for its catered events.
DeLugas began her career in the hospitality industry at Hyatt Hotels, where she managed catering departments at hotels in Nashville, Tenn.; New Brunswick, N.J.; and Washington D.C. An Atlanta native, DeLugas graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Georgia State University in her hometown. She is an avid traveler, nature and wildlife enthusiast and arts patron.
